The Cause of Hair Loss in Women
Defined Tag: Hair Loss In Women. Hair loss in women is far less common than hair loss in men. While a majority of men will at least begin to bald at some point in their life, the same cannot be said for women, who generally do not develop any form of baldness throughout the course of their lives. What accounts for hair loss in women? A number of different factors will lead to loss of hair and the failure to regrow in women, including fungal infections. Mycotic infections are said to cause hair to fall out. Hair loss in women is also said to be accounted for by genetics. If your family has a history of female baldness, there's a chance that you may develop it. Another major cause of hair loss in women is chemotherapy. When women undergo cancer treatment, their hair sometimes falls out in handfuls and quite quickly – in contrast to hair loss in women that isn't chemically induced. Also unlike most forms of female balding, there's a good chance that a woman's hair will grow back after chemotherapy sessions have ended. In contrast to male pattern baldness, female pattern baldness generally starts at the center of the head and slowly thins away the hair, creating a larger line. This is somewhat of an equivalent to the male “bald spot,” but it is a defined gap, rather than a spot. In contrast to male pattern baldness, female pattern baldness rarely leads to the loss of all of a woman's hair. Additionally, hair loss in women has been linked to other factors, including a decline in estrogen. Another factor that may be significant is contact with hazardous particulate matter, which is often in the air around power plants – especially older ones. If you are experiencing balding and you live around a coal-fired power plant, you may visit a doctor.
